CRC members and friends who make legacy gifts are recognized with membership in the Long River Society.
Your legacy gift may come in many forms:
- A bequest, either as a percentage of your estate, dollar amount, or specific assets,
- Designating CRC as a beneficiary on your life insurance or retirement fund accounts,
- Setting up a gift annuity with CRC, which will earn you income during your lifetime and then the remaining principle will be used to protect the river,
- Making another planned gift to CRC.
As a Long River Society member, you will be recognized in CRC’s annual report (unless you prefer anonymity), receive regular updates about the river and be invited to CRC’s events.
Please let us know of your charitable plans so that we may welcome you to the Long River Society. We are also available to assist you in considering what type of a legacy gift is a good fit for you. To discuss options and potential tax benefits, contact Brett Morrison, Director of Development at 413-772-2020 ext. 218.
Please note: CRC maintains its legal name, Connecticut River Watershed Council, and all planned gifts must reference that legal name. Therefore, existing bequests or other planned gifts that list Connecticut River Watershed Council are correct, and need not be revised.
When you think of the various organizations that you have considered important to fund in your life, they obviously are not going to decrease in importance after your life. It is important to continue to support them even when you aren’t there to go to the meetings or to make the calls.
